Biography

Alfred Molina is best known for his brilliant role as the villain Doctor Octopus in the 2004 Spiderman Sequel starring alongside the very talented Toby Maguire and Kirsten Dunst.
Alfred was born on
the 24th May 1953 in London, England. His Father was a waiter and Chauffer and his mother was an Italian housekeeper. He grew up in Notting Hill and decided from a very early age that he wanted to become an actor after being inspired by the film Spartacus when he was just 9 years old. He attended the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and began his acting career from there.

In 1981 he made his movie debut in the classic ‘Raiders of the Lost Ark’ and went on to star in one of his most memorable movies ‘Letter to Brezhnev’ and later had roles in ‘Boogie Nights’ , ‘Magnolia’ alongside an all star cast, ‘Species’ and many more.

Alfred has a great love of Theatre and has been involved in many productions such as Tennessee Williams' "The Night of the Iguana" and David Mamet's "Speed the Plow" both of which were Royal National Theatre Productions.
He received a Tony Award nomination in 1998 for his Broadway debut of Yasmina Reza's "Art" and although he did not win, the production itself won a Tony Award for ‘Best Play’.
Later in 2004 Alfred Molina returned once again to his true love of Theatre by starring in ‘Fiddler on the Roof’ as Tevye.

Alfred’s most recent big budget movie role has been that of Bishop Manuel Aringarosa in the hugely successful 2006 movie adaptation of Dan Brown's amazing novel ‘The Da Vinci Code.’

He keeps his personal life closely under wraps but has been happily married to Jill Gascoine since 1985 and the couple have two beautiful children together.
